The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has congratulated the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, His Royal Majesty, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
Senator Lalong describes the revered traditional ruler as a respected custodian of the people’s heritage whose contributions to peace, security, unity and development have remained significant to Plateau State, the North Central region and Nigeria at large.
The Senator notes that he has worked closely with the monarch over the years on issues of peacebuilding, security and development, particularly the collective efforts to promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of Plateau State.
He acknowledges the traditional ruler’s wisdom, experience and consistent engagement with stakeholders in addressing challenges confronting the state, while fostering mutual understanding and harmonious relationships among its people.
Senator Lalong also recalls their shared commitment to strengthening the traditional institution, particularly the advocacy for constitutional recognition and clearly defined roles for traditional rulers in Nigeria’s governance structure.
He says the monarch’s contributions to this cause reflect his understanding of the strategic importance of traditional institutions in grassroots administration, conflict resolution and national development.
As the Gbong Gwom Jos marks this milestone, Senator Lalong salutes his courage, wisdom, steadfastness and commitment to peace, stability and unity, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience will continue to benefit Plateau State and the country.
He prays God to grant His Royal Majesty many more years of good health, strength and divine wisdom as he continues to provide leadership and guidance to his people and contribute to the peace and progress of the nation.
